did an impromptu dinner w/ two moolah managers last night
the consensus -

(i) better to have not made a single trade in the course of 2014, as would have achieved as much without any effort

(ii) forced to take long and short positions, because do not get paid for doing nothing, but in much the cases taking positions w/o conviction, getting in too late, scared out too early, etc etc, by 1+% swings in the course of enough days

(iii) net net net a +/- 1% year, while considered flat, is simply not good enough to hold on to clients and justify the fees

(iv) can see rates trend down and eventually forcing even rental yields in prime locations of very largest cities to ... zero

(v) even as they can see above (iv) they concurrently believe 2015 could be the big-breaking year as current state of everything is 'not sustainable'

(vi) all looking forward to upcoming holidays, and guessing that 2015 would be ... more challenging

i related to the two that ...

(i) i have been essentially out of the equity market for 2+ years, and i am happy w/ cowering. i hold a smidgeon of 0388.hk (hk stock exchange and clearing) because my dinner companions must keep dancing whilst the music is playing, making conviction-less trades, in, out, in, out ...

(ii) am okay w/ real estate ramp should such occur

(iii) am not okay should equity market do lehman-mark-ii, because such would 'affect' all things, and 'perturb' everything

(iv) i do not see 2015 as the big-breaking year, because the Force remains strong; and i reiterated 2018-2026 window for big-breaking, and that the earlier the better for the greater good

have defined 'big-breaking' as whatever market disturbance that would lead straight into mass uncivil insurrections and thorough blood-curdling revolutions, i.e. the D.I. (darkest interregnum)
