[Base stations]

<<<The antenna is built in a manhole cover and connected to a center station via optical fibers stretched through the sewer system. >>>

As my grandmother would have said, "What will they think of next!"

Though it sounds strange, I'm wondering if SSPIF is working on anything similar. They're involved with developing C6X-based designs for wireless base stations.

Come to think of it, how often are manhole covers used? Wouldn't it interfere with reception if it were opened and the top set aside?

Rhetorical thoughts. No need to answer. :)

BTW, I posted info on TXN thread re: Digital Light Processing:
ti.com.

Kind of interesting.

Cheers!
