This may work for you. It's a plug-in for Chrome.

If you decide to try it, read the reviews carefully because a few people are unhappy with how it handles a few situations, such as sound from pop-ups.

Which browser?

On Firefox, go to plugins setup and you can set the plugins for "ask to activate" or never or always. I've got the Flash one that does most of the video playing.

An addon I use to use to do the same thing is Flashblock
addons.mozilla.org

If you do the first listed above, you don't need Flashblock....
