Jacob, Re: This is because I will buy the group at the darkest hour when people are actually questioning equipment companies survival! We are probably 6 months away from this given all of the fab shut downs I see coming in this cycle. Are you saying that the 300mm upgrade in '99 won't be happening? If it does, the stock should begin discounting this factor in about 6 mos. This is exactly the time when you think the stock will tank. Even with all of the analysts downgrades in eps for FY98, AMAT is still expected to grow eps by ~40% next year. This, to me at least, does not portend the end of the Fab and the IC. IMHO, the time to buy is when SENTIMENT is waning. Looking around and reading posts like this make me think this is the time. Regards, Brian
