Tim and all,

Two block trades after the bell today: one for 62,800 shares and
another for 119,500 shares. Both went through at 18 1/16. Most
likely Volpe Brown gobbling up cheap shares that they caused today.

As far as Mark Lazlo goes, I saw his great track record as well, and
its somewhat comforting during these bleak times. This market has
gone somewhat irrational on Atmel (no news to cause the decline...
just 2 analyst downgrades in the past 2 weeks...without them, ATML
would probably be in the 23-25 range right now). But just look at
Solectron and Micron, who reported weak earnings. SLR went up 6 and
Micron gained as well. Atmel has gone down over 50% since their
earnings release. If they meet their estimates, or even come a penny
or two below, you will see a rally in January. And as far as a
40-45 12-month price target, Atmel will hit it...it has for the past
3 years been in this see-saw cycle.

Mark
