Rod-- Greetings. Your thoughts, perceptions about ATHM are appreciated... although I disagree with a couple of points. First, there aren't many businesses that are NOT served by fibre at the curb. Teleport Communications (TCGI) alone has built an impressive number of systems. Second point... Cable Guy as a docudrama: an antiquated prejudice that ignores some interesting realities. Try this test-- call your ISP, electric co., gas co., water co., garbage service, building inspector, cable co., phone co. See how long it takes to talk to a live human, check out new service start-up costs, and/or waiting period. Where I live, TCOMA offers two hour windows for new service... even has Sunday service calls. Opinion: the difference between perception and reality equals investment opps. P

Suggest you read the NSCP-ATHM news which everyone on this thread is mysteriously ignoring. Cost of delivery + cost of conversion makes tearing out T1 and replacing with HFC for intranets a lock. There is no economy of scale anywhere for Cu. It astounds me that only the telco engineers and consultants seem to understand this. I know there are lots of efforts everywhere to get DSL going, but you said it yourself. They can't deliver even on cost. They can't compete even against 33.6. Don't fall into the ISDN trap. After all, someone is using ISDN, I think.

The NSCP-ATHM news is terrific. We seem to prefer discussing short interest or CATV rather than this important development. Come on you guys.
