Tar sands may be put on hold temporarily. In the long term that oil is going to be used.

Remember, it hasn't been long since CJ and others were talking about "peak oil" -- only a little over three years ago CJ posted this:

Yet, "peak oil" is nowhere in sight. New technologies will ultimately make tar sands more affordable as well.

While Fracking is a great technology, the reality is that Fracking continues to be expensive and there is still a lot of speculation about decline curves on fracked production.
