I can't comment on Oracle 8 in general wrt stability. But, PeopleSoft removed original certification for Oracle 8 due to 2 problems - one is with SQR and the other with Oracle (ORA-1002 Fetch out of sequence error). They are working with both vendors to get resolved. It seems these are the only two issues.

Again, Kipper I must disagree w/you. The inherent problems w/2-tier c/s have little to do w/the DBMS, but rather w/SQL packets being transmitted over the WAN. WAN capabilities are what have limited 2-tier in the past, not so much db performance.
