As long as domestic supply is so high, and demand continues to lag; the crude correction may be sustained. OPEC is somewhat marginalized. Unless some good old international Bush family style collusion happens, not out of the question in the energy industry.

Or... big war could boost sales and profits back up. Big SUV sales are apparently going up again.

I'm sure the fatcat consultants and staffs are strategizing creative financial maneuvering and government subsidies as we speak. Bad times for drillers, but as usual, great times to be a lobbyist or consultant.

The destabilization of some major oil exporters will be of political and economic consequence, TBD. What about the filthy tar-sands, for example?

Much harm will be done to the green energy movement, having to compete with cheap crude.

The airlines and truckers will not suffer.

The times only get weirder. That's why we are here, where reason and sanity still reign.
