I don't get the "political courage" thing. Seems to me at this point he's just said, "To hell with politics. In my brief political career I've wrecked the country. WTF do I care?"

Political courage, as defined by JFK, there has to be a sacrifice to have met the criteria:

β€œIn whatever arena of life one may meet the challenge of courage, whatever may be the sacrifices he faces if he follows his conscience – the loss of his friends, his fortune, his contentment, even the esteem of his fellow men – each man must decide for himself the course he will follow." John F. Kennedy

Where is the sacrifice? What is he giving up? The Hard Left will support him, no matter what he does. The Right will not.

Seems to me this act of "political courage" amounts to nothing more than a F-U to his opponents. That's not political courage; they didn't like him before and they won't like him afterward. There is no sacrifice.

It is more like bullying.
