A Cuban immigrant was meeting with me yesterday over some IT engineering stuff. He asked me how I felt about this and I said it seems like an opportunity for reconciliation. His expression changed to one of extreme disappointment, so I said, "I understand people have sacrificed much and taken huge risks to come to America," but I don't really have a dog in this fight. That seemed to help and we got through our meeting but I am still thinking I could have been more sensitive in responding to his question.
