I'm using a WD MyCloud 2T to backup my PC, I find it very reliable... to backup the MyCloud (a secondary backup in case the MyCloud fails), I'm using a 128G flash drive which plugs into the back of the MyCloud, I do this every other day to establish a more current safe point, just in case...

My question:

Is there any real or meaningful difference between a flash drive and an external hard drive... I have a 128G flash drive which I'm using to back up my data... would I be any better off with an external hard drive instead or would I be wasting my time replacing one for the other???

Some tell me there's no real difference except that the flash drive is more portable and the external hard drive is less portable, and aside from that portability difference it makes no difference which I use... TIA
