SERVICE SECTOR / IPSCO Inc. Announces Collective Agreement Reached IPSCO INC. TSE, ASE, NYSE SYMBOL: IPS DECEMBER 16, 1997 REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--Ted Rignanesi, Business Agent for the Shopmen's Local Union No.805 of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers, today announced the ratification of a new Collective Agreement at the IPSCO Inc., Red Deer, Alberta location. The new Agreement, which will be in effect from January 1, 1998 until December 31, 2001, covers some 124 bargaining unit employees. Changes in the new Agreement include increases in members' wages, profit sharing plan, benefits and pensions. "We are pleased that a contract was negotiated which gives our members wage and profit sharing improvements in the good markets that exist today, and also provides a stable four year period for further growth", said Rignanesi. "The Union and the Company reached this agreement after positive and constructive bargaining", said Bob Scott, Chief Shop Steward. "Our relationship with the Company over the 14 years since IPSCO purchased the Red Deer pipe mill has been extremely positive. This Red Deer plant has never experienced a work stoppage from a labour dispute and with an aggressive safety program the plant has operated over 207 days without a lost time accident. Our members have worked hard to make this operation a success and the Company has continued to invest in this operation", he continued. "We, the Ironworkers Local 805, take pride in our members and their Bargaining Committee and congratulate them on their fine accomplishments. We look forward to continued growth", concluded Rignanesi.
