RE; Cable/Internet. Much thanks to the many people who responded. It's clear from the responses that a number of cable providers are offering PC connections to the internet. Appears that it's very fast, but I suspect there are no "contention" issues at this time because of the low implementation.
As an investor, I am more interested in the TCI initiative for millions of $300 set-top boxes with Wintel, et al inside. For some reason neither TCI nor WebTV Plus is offering true internet access, but a only few internet like services. Perhaps the problem is the set-top can't provide the necessary features found in a PC. However, WebTV Plus has many of these features. A risk processor, two modems, an operating system, browser, a hard disk, video processing, etc. All this for less than $300. Yet their focus is on services like movie download and content specific data concurrent with cable programming. Why not full internet access?

Both dangers exist.

A 1929 crash and depression are certainly possible if Japan slides into the pit. We should get the recession in any case.

Just varying degrees of reality.
