For your information.....

A PhD in engineering or science costs the student NOTHING for tuition and RandB and they get a living stipend also........that free ride is paid for by corporate sponsors who pay for their professors research.......

and in many disciplines doesn't return sufficient value to make it worthwhile.
Total nonsense......why do you think corps make such an effort to recruit them....... In addition to the theoretical knowledge the have valuable hands on research experience and will hit the ground running when they start their new jobs............... While the graduate experience can be challenging, the students will tell you they were the best years of their lives............
