Gay guys are by and large a gentle group-lol. I think my experience of gays is a bit different than yours. From what I've seen, the flamboyant, gentle gay man is a minority within a minority just as Michael Sam and other macho gay NFL players are a minority within a minority. And that's true for gay women as well. To often, the gay women we see are the ones who are dykes. However, when I lived in LA, a friend invited me to a lipstick lesbian party. Some of the hottest women I had ever seen in LA were at this party.........I am talking Megan Fox/Kate Hudson hot. The macho gay men and hot lesbians can pass as straight and so they do.......and the stereotypes remain what people think are typical gays....again in my experience.
