Most experimental products are started thru gov't research. No kidding. Not to mention that the government has always had a hand in building and maintaining transportation infrastructure, at last until Reagan. From the National Road through the trans-continental railroads to the Interstate system, government has done some great things that private industry would have never touched. Yes. Starting with Reagan, this country got taken over by petty, small minded ideologues who only care about their personal well being and their wallets. If we waited for private industry to act, we never would have cracked the atom, gone into space, found a cure for diseases and thousands of consumer products that evolved from gov't research projects. Reagan was the worst thing that could have happened to this country.
