The problem, of course, is that it was "Senator Dianne Feinstein's" novel, not the truth about what happened. And it has nothing to do with the American democracy, since most Americans at the time would have gladly supported every action that was taken (EVEN with the highly fairy tale presented years after the fact, MORE THAN HALF of Americans supported it).

So, if it democracy he's concerned about -- he need not be. Americans fully support the actions that were alleged, and would presumably be even more supportive of what ACTUALLY occurred.
