The issues under discussion are rocket science of ordinary people thus not become part of the political process. No candidate is going to use these as a political platform.

Ordinary people have in their mind ONLY he effects these issues will have in their pocket next Monday.

That is one of the reasons there is not much political diversity: political parties only need a simple set of issues to gain the electorate.

The modern society is too complicate for ordinary people to understand and act.
