I think that is the case

There is a continuing requirement for some form of broadly accepted medium of exchange

As both the the dominant world economy and a historically reliable (subject to change) backer of all its issued debt instruments, there will not be a successful universal, concerted effort to replace US instruments as they are currently used, worldwide..

As a result of the status inherent in that position, the gaggle of pretenders will chirp incessantly about the fragility of the US

..but the folks who actually make the decisions and have to deal with the actual risks inherent in such decisions will see little reason to abandon the dollar, given the quality of any potential alternatives

This situation is of course subject to change

But the alternatives currently being subjected have a way to go to make the starting lineup
