If you're just going to release all the prisoners to empty the place out, why the hell didn't he just do it six years ago and keep his campaign promise? What, exactly, has changed, that makes it better to be doing it now than before? That is, besides his political situation?

Gitmo will be closed within 2 years........... Yep..............he's afraid that he will be sent there in 2 years by President Palin. He belongs there with the others murderers and war criminals.
