way back I remember being frustrated when redhat switched from fvwm as the default window manager to gnome.

That's when I dropped redhat and went to mandrake. KDE went to crap when they went from ver2 to 3, it became bloated like windows, horrible on older computers.

To me Linuxmint keeps the same software update and packaging scheme Ubuntu did, and you can run fvwm or the newer desktop managers.

I'll take it to PM to not clutter the thread.
