I agree with half of your argument, that of productive investment. I think borrowed money should have a special name or tag that follows it everywhere (other than debt as that tag quickly is lost). It has a giant rubber band attached to it and must be paid back or liquidated in the future. It is not real GDP produced money. With debt to 380% to GDP we would find most of our money had a footnote added. If the government does not worry about it,at least the individual could see what was going on when they looked in their wallet or bank account. It might also get the general public to demand that tagged money be better spent, both the government kind and the private borrowed kind. If I had a choice I would sell my house to the one with real money just for the principal of it. Yes, I know I make a silly argument to prove a point. The biggest problem in our economy is things are too complicated for most to understand. We on this board struggle to be at the top of this understanding. When reaching the peak, much like the Soviet dissidents of old, we are shocked. We protest in horror at the abuses of the privileged on the average man , only to be attacked by the privileged as well as the pitchfork wielding middle class, drunk on beer and football and flags and patriotism (some of the best of whom kick at us as they hurry off to the Middle East to perform their duty, usually for a cause that has 50% chance of doing more harm than good) Some are lead by double parasites who see the truth but use it for their gain Yes it is lonely here. And yes bring it on I am used to it even from my own.
