Actually, they have announced the capability. In fact, the modus operandi is over the phone lines so people can "Magicom" to each other without having to be in the same room with a cable connecting their Magicoms.

According to one of the people who attended Comdex, the Magicoms were again wired to each other. I'll be following the Discovery Channel on Friday. Thanks.
