Well, there are guns for entertainment, practicality and then there is the "top of the line .308" I'd play with that .308 forever. unless your son moves from our neighborhood the 50 is a tad punishing and costly for < 1000 yard shots. Armalite, I think, makes a single shot. I'd have a little interest in that. a few manufacturers are chambering .338 lapua in cost effective rifles. Ammo is around 6$ per. But if you reload you can cut that cost in half or better. decisions...decisions Shootie
