But there simply isn't a scientific consensus on what constitutes an "extreme weather event" or how common they are or aren't.

So, Warmists claim one thing and Deniers claim another.

Which will continue until real science which can be believed is shed of the politics of the subject.

Instead of focusing on trying to convince people, scientists should focus on the science and if the science proves it people will be convinced first that it is happening, then whether anything can or should be done about it. That hasn't happened as yet.
