Micron and other mfgs. are reportedly pressing Congress to watch the actions of the IMF to make sure that they do not bail out Korean Cos. with subsidies. Although the Koreans need the help of the IMF in backing up good loan and financial policies, the U.S. taxpayer should not be blackmailed into propping up failed S. Korean and other Asian companies.

If we provide too much in the way of protection for the ruinous expansion strategies, Samsund, Hundai, LG Semicon, and others will just go on flooding the market with products near or below the cost of production.

Analysts and spokesmen at TI and MU have said that the S. Koreans are exporting DRAMs and HDDs at or bellow the cost of manufacture in an attempt to bail tehmselves of the current cash flow situation. If that is the cae, they are betting on receiving new rounds of financing that will continue to subsidize their losses.

E-mail or write your Congressman and the Pres. that the U.S. should not support loans that aide the attempts of Korean and other Asian companies to gain share or dominate worldwide markets for high-tech products including HDDs;

Here's a nice e-mail directory: webslingerz.com

This should be an issue for the national broadcast media if they report responsibly.

Mike, >If it's Fry's don't trust the ad - check the store<
I just called and left a message asking about availability.
A store check would not help, since they keep the drives in
a locked cabinet behind the checkout counter. The ad also says
"one to a customer". They won't call me back.<g>

Just called another Fry's store (408-487-1000) and the clerk
told me they had more than one in stock.

The weakness of INTC is ominous.
