That's great, WR, but you didn't answer my question. All you did was cite some existing extension projects going on with BART. Think about the countries that do have high-speed rail. Think about how densely populated those countries are, or how incredibly expensive gas is. Hence the need for high-speed rail. Gas might not stay cheap for long, but until Californians start learning how to live like New Yorkers or Tokyo residents, they have no business asking for high-speed rail because they won't be using it.
