The XL pipeline benefits ordinary Americans not one bit. So, why are Republicans supporting it? Because it benefits their contributing fat cat investors! That's the ONLY reason I can figure.

>> I have already pointed out that the existing Keystone pipeline has had 30 spills since it was built.

You seem to be trying to argue that transporting oil by other means is safer, yet we know, with 100% certainty, it isn't. If you have to transport oil over land there is no safer method of doing it than with a pipeline.

Furthermore, THE EXPERT on that aquifer has said there it is a physical impossibility to significantly damage the aquifer with an oil spill. So, your argument is entirely moot.

>> Why should we risk spills over the Ogallala aquifer, a major source of water in the US? That makes no sense.

Except we know that a spill would not damage the aquifer and therefore there is NO RISK.

You are a useful idiot, devoid of scientific thought, who can be counted to to support anything Obama wants to do.

Why should anyone think the existing pipelines that cross the Ogallah aquifer (which runs from w Tx up into the Dakotas) were mistakes?

If pipelines endanger the aquifer, doesn't Warren Buffet's oil hauling railroad do so as well?

And why are you all so gung ho to support the Canadian oil industry? Canada is a peaceful friendly neighbor. And hey, have you forgotten they have socialized health care?

It doesn't just support the Canadian oil industry, it supports the U.S. oil industry.

The more oil that comes in the more refineries and refinery workers.

If the current Keystone has had that many spills then maybe we should worry more about the standards of construction and security of the pipeline rather than whether it should be built.

That oil is going to be extracted regardless. I'd rather have the profits and jobs it will create stay in the U.S. rather than be exported overseas.

You have claimed there have been 30 spills, but you have provided no link or other supporting source for that claim, and without establishing the scope of such spills one would have to presume any such spills were not significant.

You got a link?
