Let me spell this out for you since you appear to be somewhat stumped by what should have been a rather obvious statement--

Removable storage is hot right now and things are only going to get better, the Zip is the leading product, ergo there is a demand for a lot of Zip disks (have I lost you yet?). Now, if I want to invest in such a way that allows me to take advantage of this market trend, then I would suggest that investing in the company making the most money off this particular product makes the most sense, all else equal of course. Now, if IBM manufactured Zip disks, and if revenue from Zip disks made up a significant percentage of their revenue and you could demonstrate that they were making more per disk that IOM, then your little analogy might be useful. Hope all this wasn't too difficult.
