There really are two Americas. The America where people pay attention to B.S. laws like this and the America that does what they need to do.

Victor Davis Hanson has talked about this phenomenon. Half of California exists beyond the laws of California.
.
It's just too poor to bother with.

What're ya gonna do? Fine 'em? They have no money. Jail 'em? There's no room in the jails.

Laws like this are only for people with something to lose.

That EPA woodstove reg has had no effect on me yet. I go by this:

juneau.org

The City will come by if there are complaints about excessive smoke, especially during an "air emergency" due to temperature inversion and smoke build-up in neighborhoods.

Good to know about the stoves though. They don't last forever.

I heard some bad things about the EPA diesel regs. New diesel pickups require a urea feed while running to treat emissions. If you run out of urea treatment, the vehicle won't run. Finding urea in a remote area - no bueno.

A friend of mine got rid of his for that reason, among others. Amazing thing was, used, almost new, vehicle prices are higher than when new! He made money.

One size fits all regs are so silly. We have all the water we would ever want out of a well, but had to get a 4 hour multi-cycle low water dishwasher. And low water toilets that have to be flushed twice to prevent clogging.
