The anti-trust law is to prevent monopoly to happen. Maybe you don't see the possible consequence if MSFT does indeed get into everyone's life. True that MSFT has a monopoly in PC OS. But, computers are not main stream household products - yet. So, the monopoly in the growing but yet small market is sort of tolerable by the government. (Of course, if there're choice, the government would have tackled MSFT long time ago.) However, if MSFT extends its monopoly to internet, TV, and other emerging markets, that will be a different story. The government really needs to step up now before it's too late. Yeah, a possible delay in Windoz 98 will hamper some growth in the PC industry for a short period of time. Allowing rollout of Windoz 98 would let MSFT set all standard in the internet since it'll make life almost impossible without IE. Therefore, I believe DOJ had taken a step in the right direction for the long term success of this country. We certainly don't want any monopoly in the US.

What other government in the world would seek to hobble a shining star ... Oh, all sorts of socialist governments have and are willing to do this; the U.S. is by no means alone. Never underestimate the compassion of the People's Republic of the Justice Department. Regards, Bill
