>>> Typically what happens in large companies is that a tool buying committee goes off & buys a tool because there's money in the budget. Whether or not that tool is appropriate for the problems & skill levels at that site can be a real crap shoot. It is pretty typical for the tool buying committee & the tool using community to work entirely seperate from each other. Dumb, but true. <<<

Great point.

That is why I believe that companies should not try to attempt to do these changes themselves. Even if the tool they buy is good, the skill of the people who use it could be in question. Also, the more the tool would require the use of manual intervention to convert code, the more the chances will be for errors.

As more and more companies realize this, the better it will be for the conversion houses such as ConSyGen.

I am waiting for all that code that was sent to India to come back for testing. I wonder how it will test ?

Companies who hire hundreds of programmers to try to do the conversions with themselves with the use of tools will soon see that they bit off more than they can chew.

I wouldn't be surprised to see many of them attempt this and then, only after they realize they are screwed, turn to the conversion houses.

The big step will be when companies like KEA, VIAS, and CSC realize that there is just to much demand and they also have to turn to companies like CSGI.

These companies may provide the upfront support and testing, while the code is converted by a conversion house.

This is what I believe will happen once the flood gates open.
