So far it has been relatively fast erosion of the standard of living since Y2K, I would say. The American dream does not exist for the current generation of 20-somethings. A pay freeze, chitty jobs replacing good jobs went overseas, zero interest income, and a sizable inflation all do it. Reinflated housing bubble keeps housing unaffordable. Serial stock bubble bankrupt the population. Unaffordable college education gets you a bartender job these days.
