That's not the whole problem, though. While they roll out FTH (Fiber to the Home) as they call it, this really is nothing but FTC (F to the Curb), counting on VDSL to do the final mile - or hopefully much less.

I know of just too many cases, where friends of mine know they dug up the whole street to deploy fiber, and then same friends just cannot understand why they can get no service 'for now'...
Some alternative private companies have installed FTH in a couple of large cities but mostly only to newly constructed buildings, where the fiber was installed from day one.

No, Germany is way behind much of Europe in getting fast and affordable Internet to everybody.
A scandal for sure, ridiculously embarrassing actually.
