I am curious why people don't just save their important data. All this backup stuff turned out to be a huge pain if you ask me. I just don't see the benefit of a complete backup if you have your important data replicated.

Please share your story. Has anyone here actually recovered from a backup and why is it better than just having a new system and accessing your important data from there?

Video is why I need 1 TB drives. At family functions, I only use video, not too many photos. Video captures a lot more than just a photo. I don't have video of my father who died 20 years ago, I can't even remember what he sounded like, so thats why I use video. Plus my YouTube channel, video takes up a lot of space, thus the need for 1TB and now a 2TB drive. Also music and a couple movies I purchased on iTunes. Eats up space fast.
