“OPEC’s strategy is working, and it will be obvious in U.S. production by midyear when growth from shale plays will come to a halt,” James Williams, president of energy consulting company WTRG Economics in London, Arkansas, said by telephone Friday. “You can imagine the impact on any industry from a 50 percent impact on sales.”

And when oil prices start to go back up, the rigs will be back. Like I said its a pretty stupid game the Saudis are playing.........not that I am complaining, we the consumers will win.

As long as the shale companies leave the platforms and drilling wells intact, it will serve as "the sword of Damocles" for OPEC. wonder why the stock market investors refuse to agree with this and instead fear that the world economy is on a downtrend. The European economy may be on a downtrend but with low oil and ECB stimulus, they should be in a position to bounce back much sooner than they have done in the past.
