Veneto is absolutely great, but as for the rest of Italy, not recommendable aro mid summer, too hot as you learned it the hard way. Hike up Vesuvius once, quite amazing and looking down into the crater, anybody with an imagination and being familiar with what happened in the years 79BC and most recently, in 1944, has the experience of the day if not not a lot more than that. Vesuvius, rated one of the most dangerous volcanos on Earth, and there you look it straight into the mouth!!! Good to combine with Pompeji :) /Taro
