G, as noted the Macrium rescue disk booted on me accidentally, but it was fast and efficient. I worried that it may corrupt something as it was unintended, but everything on my startup was as before. I downloaded the free EaseUs v 8.0 which is the latest and did an additional backup to a different external so as to get into an alternating backup routine. The Macrium free backup took 18 minutes... the EaseUs took 42 minutes. I'll keep Easeus for now for file backups and as an alternating program. I sometimes also just copy important files to a USB flash drive as an extra safety measure. Incremental copying is quick and easy. My Acronis, that I never did like, is now uninstalled.

G, one more thing... as long as I was in the backup mode I created a rescue disk from EaseUs. Was fast creating it and on a test start up was quick and complete.
