I think that the primary limiting factor in contemplating theology, creationism, evolution, and similar themes that involve our existence and reality is the inability of our minds to comprehend infinity. Our brains are wired to perceive everything in finite terms, always with a beginning and end, while the answers to our questions exist in infinite terms that we cannot comprehend. Try as we do, we cannot begin to contemplate that whatever created the universe and the fabric of existence has always existed. There is no beginning, yet we cannot comprehend what that means. For example, I've never understood the fascination with the big bang theory because even if we accept that premise as true, that leads to the next question, "What created the material and energy that were involved in the big bang," and the next question after that, "What created the material and energy that created the material and energy that were involved in the big bang," and on and on and on.
