explain all the properties of our universe A multiverse does not have to all exist at the same time. It could also describe a process of big-bang followed by collapse which leads to another big bang and so on and so on. This could be an infinite number of universes one after another. We may be lucky to be living in one of the incarnations in the long long string of universes which has the proper properties to allow intelligent life, at least somewhere within it. If so, it would still be useful or interesting to us to know the properties of the universe in which we live. Who knows, maybe there is a way to send a message to the next big bang.
