And I do understand why he did it. But we really needed someone who rose above the politics.

But they are not politics; they are policies. And I don't think politics dictated those policies because many in his own party were against them.

>> insistence on not prosecuting the malefactors of the Bush administration weighs him down.

I'm not sure who you're calling "malefactors", but I think I know.

I'm just wondering, if Obama DID prosecute those malefactors, what would happen when another president is elected and decides to prosecute the malefactors of THIS presidency? For example, if there were malefactors who committed illegal tortures -- just as an example -- in the Bush administration, what would happen to a president who used targeted assassinations? Is that more legal than waterboarding?

All things considered one would have to conclude, logically, that the Bush administration treated terrorism suspects far more mildly than Obama has. Obama just kills them without giving them an opportunity for a messy surrender. The Bush administration did not do that unless it was necessary.

Aside from that difference, what other difference do you see between the malefactors of the Bush administration and those in the Obama administration (including the president himself)?
