Teaching, learning, cultural translation - and the bottom line is the only way to win some games is by not playing. Many people go into projects with a bias that everything is solvable and that's simply not true. As a result the optimist sees what they want to see, and misinterprets what people tell them in a way which fits their preconceived story. And this is unfortunate because people always tell you who they are. They simply can't help themselves. Even if all they tell you by manner and words, is the fact that they're practiced liars meaning you've learned nothing from them apart from the high probability that you also don't want to deal with any of their associates.
