And what do you think is blowing it out?
It's the wind from the other side of the Arctic Ocean.

I saw a cool video on the internet of last year's polar vortex. This video showed the arctic ocean from a satellite so you could see the tropical storm move up the Pacific into the Arctic and the subsequent cold front hurdling down the great plains. Most weather videos just show the storms seeming to pop up in Canada.

I'll keep looking for it again and attach a link if I find it.
