Brian,

A 25, 20, 15 buy range doesn't mean that I believe the stock will reach 15. If I did, I would just wait to buy at 15. Why might AMAT reach 15? First, I saw a revision of 98 earnings to $1.69 in the past few days, so the AMAT forecast is losing credibility. Second, the seriousness of the SEA problem is beyond the understanding of most money managers and they could easily panic and dump AMAT if the next CC confirms that SEA orders are being cancelled and pushed out. The actual effect on 98 earnings might not justify the price decline, but the money managers won't wait around to find out.

So, what has changed so dramatically is the well documented SEA economic meltdown.
