Kevin,

Merced is actual a bad news for INTC. The reason is quite simple that Intel is at the mercy of HP to develop and complete the architecture design of Merced.

There is no way that Intel could have Merced ready to run flawlessly or bug free for 1999. Keep in mind that the original schedule for Merced is 2001. The debute schedule was forward under the pressure of competion, specially from Cyrix. It is questionable if Intel has any control over the actual delivery schedule.

If Intel failed to deliver Merced durign 1999, INTC might fall below its book value then.
