>> Still no answer as to why Buffett isn't bequeathing his wealth to the federal government

Since I heard it several years ago I have, several times, tried to find this interview I saw on TV with Buffett. I don't know if it was 60 Minutes or CNBC or what. But he was asked the question and he answered it with precision: "I believe they [Gates Foundation] is a better allocator of wealth than government."

He went on with another sentence, saying something about "most people."

But the point was made and anyone who ever dealt with death taxes knew exactly what he was doing, and there is ONLY ONE REASON: Because he believed the Gates Foundation would handle his money better than government would. Otherwise, he would just leave it to government to collect through the death taxes, or make deductible contributions to the federal government over time.

I wish I could find the text of that interview. But it doesn't matter -- his actions speak in very clear language.

Because he wants to give it to people who need it, not the government. No dodge whatsoever.
