Does options trading close before the equity market closes? If it did (say, 3:30 p.m.), does the right to exercise the option also expire then? From the CBOE site: What are the trading hours for Equity LEAPS Options? As with regular equity options, the trading hours for Equity LEAPS are from 8:30a.m.to 3:10p.m. Central Time (Chicago time). cboe.com What is the expiration date? The last day (in the case of American-style) or the only day (in the case of European-style) on which an option may be exercised. For stock options, this date is the Saturday immediately following the third Friday of the expiration month; however, brokerage firms may set an earlier deadline for notification of an option buyer's intention to exercise.
