That should give you some motivation toward the next Nobel!

We can only study something by giving it a finite area in space and time--because that is where we are condemned to work and make our observations. The hypothesis is the first step which begins the description as it were. We discovered a Higgs particle by searching for precisely that. Because we had defined necessary attributes.

As to the Higgs field, my intuition is that it is far from comprehensive. Just as our knowledge of the Higgs standard particle model is youthful and innocent. And how many kinds of Higgs are there? What do they decay into--respectively? When if ever do they become fundamental? What about dark matter, dark energy, gravity, exotic hadrons??
