I'm not sure paying off debts incurred by the Russian puppet-government to China are at the top of Ukraine's list at the moment. Ukraine has a large oil and gas field, the Carpathian Foldbelt, in far western Ukraine in addition to the potential, Dnieper Donets Basin, in eastern Ukraine. In the Soviet era gas production from western Ukraine flowed east by pipeline to Moscow. Looking at the ethnic map of Ukraine, you can easily see more than half of the Dnieper Donets Basin field in eastern Ukraine is in a region of ethnic Ukraine.
